And Why Waiting Too Long Could Cost You
Clearing land isn’t just about taking down trees and brush — it’s about timing, planning, and knowing how Arkansas climate and terrain affect the job. Whether you're prepping to build a home, installing a fence line, or reclaiming overgrown property, knowing when to start your land clearing project can save you time, money, and major headaches.
At Pennington Construction & Land Solutions, we help property owners make smart decisions based not just on what's on the land — but what’s going on with the seasons.
🍂 Fall & Winter: The Ideal Time to Clear Land:
Believe it or not, fall and winter are often the best times to start your clearing project. Here’s why:
Less Vegetation: Trees have dropped their leaves, brush is thinning out, and visibility improves, making it easier and faster to clear.
Harder Ground: Cooler weather usually means firmer soil, reducing equipment ruts and soil disturbance.
Better for Burning or Haul-Off: If burn piles are allowed, it’s typically safer and easier in cooler months when the risk of fire spread is lower.
You're Ahead of Spring Builds: Clearing in fall or winter means your land is ready to go when building season hits in spring.
🌸 Spring & Summer: Still Doable, But Not Always Ideal:
While we can clear land year-round, warmer months come with added considerations:
Overgrowth is denser: More foliage means longer clearing times and reduced visibility.
Rain can stall progress: Wet conditions lead to soft ground, which can cause delays or damage.
Increased wildlife activity: Snakes, ticks, and nests become more common, which may require caution or added prep.
That said, if you're in a time crunch, we’ll work around weather and terrain to get the job done safely and efficiently.
